My family knew no real lineage on my Father's side up until recently. They're from North Carolina, and it turns out that our ancestors have been in America (Virginia) since 1640, 33 years after Jamestown was established. John Coggins was born in Bristol, England in 1620 and came to America when he was 20 years old. I've also found out additional information on my own:
I'm related to Pocahontas.
Through marriage. But still. John Coggins' daughter, Rebecca, was a sister-in-law to the offspring of John Rolfe and Pocahontas, Thomas Rolfe.
